Song#1: WE'LL MAKE IT THROUGH OurSong + Your10Words Series The streets are empty, day number 5 Thinkin’ ‘bout all humankind Who knows what tomorrow brings These days are times for you and me The whole world’s praying in the safety of their homes While heroes run to battle, no sleep, with strength of hope As I am filled with gratitude For life, for love, to be with you May the odds be ever in your favor With some mojo magic for a cure Let’s not forget to take care of each other For I know we’ll make it through Yes, I know we’ll make it through Bring on some humor as we wait in isolation Sketch a tomato or tomatoe Much as Gershwin didn’t call the whole thing off We’ll keep the faith through it all May the odds be ever in your favor With some mojo magic for a cure Let’s not forget to take care of each other For I know we’ll make it through Yes, I know we’ll make it through Music/lyrics by Aireene Espiritu with 10 Words (plus bonus) by: We’ll Make It Through 1. Song#2: WILL I KNOW YOU WHEN I SEE YOUR FACE OurSong + Your10Words Series There's a village in the sky Where the souls await their turn While karma tallies sins With all their lessons learned Many whom I once knew Many friendships will endure Their memories never lost But there is one I miss the most Chorus: Will I meet you in a reincarnation Will I be lucky to love you again Moments are ephemeral, but the heart's long lasting Will I know you when I see your face Will I know you when I see your face I stepped into the room Music played and I started to sway Our eyes met and then I knew Sure as the sunrise meets the day That haven to come home to That funny feeling, a rumble from the heart That wonder from fate's luminescence And this time we'll never part Chorus: Will I meet you in a reincarnation Will I be lucky to love you again Moments are ephemeral, but the heart's long lasting Will I know you when I see your face Will I know you when I see your face Will I know you when I see your face Music/lyrics by Aireene Espiritu with 10 Words by: 1. Song#11 WELTSCHMERZ TAINTED WINDOW Shattered glass from the empty laundromat Dogs barking from the noise, another uprising Another black man down, the cities' crying Feeling off, feeling low, it hurts so low The peace bouquet dropped, fell to the ground Hope packed its bags nowhere to be found At least for now while tears are being shed But please, oh hope, you must come back again I'm looking through a welt...a weltschmerz tainted window Too many years, we tried and tried Some perished but those that did survive Kept fighting so someday we will transcend For to becoming a land of love everywhere I'm looking through a welt...a weltschmerz tainted window In my solitude, I must work for a change The ghosts returned to guide along the way And joined the masses that took to the streets I tell myself to not give up 'til justice reigns I'm looking through a welt...a weltschmerz tainted window I'm looking through a welt...a weltschmerz tainted window A weltschmerz tainted window Music/lyrics by Aireene Espiritu with 10 Words by: 1. Song#16 BRING ON THE SUPERNATURAL Lightning flashed, eerie clouds Just like my premonition Scrying through the crystal ball Revealed the same precognition They're here, they're here Dark times are here Gather all protection Fo the monsters are here The talisman fit the groove To a mysterious hole in the wall The door opened to a misty room With ghostly shadows, spooky mood Then a voice said, welcome We've been waiting for you You were born to fight this battle 'Tween the evil and the good CHORUS What's it gonna take to save this world Bring on the supernatural Come together skeptics and believers Bring on the supernatural Faith healers, fire whisperers Witchy, mystic newt Angels, guardians, wonder woman Gonna face the evil's root Worked on a timeless, luminous bridge To the ethereal heavens above Rows of soldiers, nations deep Kept all the kerfuffles afar Calling all ye pure hearts Spirits and the divine It's gonna take every one of us From here to the beyond Come together... Bring On the Supernatural, Volume 1
Music & Lyrics by Aireene Espiritu from the OurSong+Your10Words Song Series

This project is made possible by the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival Seed Commissions 2022. ybgfestival.org/seed-commissions-2022
When the shelter-in-place occurred in March of 2020 and artists turned to streaming shows, I started Our Song + Your 10 Words Song Series, where I took 10 words from 10 individuals and would write a new song based on those words. From March until September, 16 songs were born and posted on YouTube in its raw form (view them here: bit.ly/your10words) Some were reflective of the times: the first week of shelter-in-place, feelings of gratitude when I moved into my apartment after being homefree for nine years, the political climate, Black Lives Matter, justice for George Floyd and the wildfires. With the commission funds I was able to record 5 of the 16 songs, plus simulated radio announcements (thanks to Maurice Tani’s natural radio voice) introducing those that were historical markers from that year.

The title track, Bring On the Supernatural, was written in September, the last song of the song series for 2020. Waking up to the surreal orange skies prompted me to request for words inspired by the supernatural. Within the first hour of posting the request in social media, I received 20 words and decided to include all instead of limiting to the usual 10. What’s it gonna take to save this world? Bring on the supernatural. Come together skeptics and believers, "Bring On the Supernatural."

A big thanks to the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival Seed Commissions for allowing me to bring these songs to life from their raw form as they deserve to be heard. Thanks to all the word contributors and those who tuned in to the streaming shows in 2020. And thank you for listening!
